Grolleau '85'

From vineyards in Anjou farmed for 801 years, this is a delightful style, with development in bottle, bright and nuanced berry fruit, silky tannin and only 11.5% ABV. There's a weightless quality on the palate, hovering over the long, gentle finish, but a sense of completeness that comes only when the vines are this old (planted 1930). An excellent alternative to red Burgundy.  |O|B|
