Genesis Syrah

This is Australian Syrah like no other. From the cool climate area of Beechworth in Victoria, this is very much Northern Rhone in style. It is earthy, leathery, spicy and perfectly ripe fruit to balance. The tannins give structure  but aren't too prominent, just enough to keep things interesting. Julian Castagna is an exciting winemaker in the Beechworth area, producing biodynamic wines that really give a sense of place and show the best of the terroir, defying stereotypical Australian Syrah/Shiraz |B|
