Vinya Vella Bush Vine Grenache

From a small plot of 6 ha (small for Australia), two thirds of which are from gnarled old bush vines well over a century old, one's first thought would be something big, juicy and intense but this wine is actually more controlled and focussed with an excellent purity of fruit, with flavours of plums and dark cherries. There is a lovely perfume to the wine too at first that develops into something earthy and brooding once it has opened up. A wine to savour with charcuterie and good company.
